Meet the Parents

I drove today and after work went over to check on Mom and Pops.  I saw some lovely mist on the lake in the morning but did not leave the house soon enough to run over and snap some pictures!  I considered being late for work by 5 or 10 minutes but decided against it since my 90 day review is coming up next month!

The Bus Ride

I have been riding the bus to save money and it gives me the chance to read photography articles.  I got my reading done on the bus today.  I picked up a PSA (Photographic Society of America) magazine at my camera club meeting on Monday night.  It was an old, out dated edition that one of the members brought in to get rid of and I snapped it up.  I read one article on histograms and another on aperature!  Fascinating stuff!

Spectacular

Autumn Aray

What a spectacular day!  Today is Monday, Oct. 11th, Columbus Day, and I did not have to go to work.  I started out with an early morning donation of plasma and on the way I saw a beautiful, spectacular, orange and red maple tree.  It was glowing bright with autum colors at 7:30 am.  After my donation, I headed up to Green Bluff for some pumpkin portraits, apples, and a gallon of fresh pressed cider!  I got some great pictures and enjoyed my morning, spending about 4 hours wandering on the bluff.

Rain, Wind and Photography....

I wanted to go out today and take more pictues of the Fall colors but it is windy and raining.  The rain I could deal with as I think it makes the colors more intense but I will need the leaves to hold still and I don't think the wind will listen and cooperate!  Today I will settle for 30 minutes of reading...

Costco, Shutterfly, Walgreens?

Where, oh where, does one get a picture printed that comes out the same color as you see on your computer monitor????  I did some slight color adjustments to a picture and sent it off to Costco for printing and it came out too yellow/gold.  So, while I was in Photoshop Elements 7 I saw a link for Shutterfly as the two are in collaboration with each other and they denied my credit card!  I was jsut going to give up when a friend suggested Walgreens.  So, today I sent some off to Walgreens... we will see...

Nada

I got nada for today.  I rode the bus to and from work and it limits my camera time as far as wandering around taking pictures.  The light is limited and pretty soon we will be on daylight savings time.  I have no excuse for not doing 30 minutes of reading, this project feels so not there....  I need to get with it!

Oh my!,... so many pictures to download,... and it does not happen quickly!  What a project with in a project...

A Donation

Today after work I went to the plasma center again,...it is draining, literally.  It wipes me out physically and all I want to do afterward is sleep.  I drove over right after work and got there at 5:30.  I got "hooked up" at 7:00 pm and was done by 8 pm.  I met with my friend Stephanie at Barnes and Nobles after I filled up my car with "blood money" and went home and went to bed....  What about photography?...."not tonight, honey...."

I am back on track at least for today, who knows how I will feel tomorrow.  It is a sunny day with blue skies and I decided to go for a walk with my camera at lunch time in search of Fall.  It is my favorite season, I love the colors.

I Hit a Dry Spell



A Feeling

 I don't know what is wrong with me, but I have definitley hit a dry spell.  I have not wanted to exercise at all and the population of Bootyville is growing again, and I have not taken the time to work on this photography project!!  Could it be project overload??  Fall is here and it is getting darker earlier, maybe I am affected by SADD....   I am going to post a picture with this post because this is how I feel right now...

Anyone Who Knows Me

I donated plasma today.  It has come down to this.  I would love to tell you I did it purely to save lives, but that would be a lie.  They pay you $50 to donate and that is what drew me in.  I really didn't know what they use plasma for but I was educated, and pricked, examined, fingerprinted, had a mug shot taken, and marked with a special dye that glows in the dark.  They asked lots of questions, some would make you blush and think "never!".  It was totally interesting to see what types of people donate, lets just say,... "all walks of life".  Anyone who knows me would tell you when I get a new hobby it can get quite expensive!  I am glad I am helping save a life and maybe this will turn my photography interests to taking pictures of people

Internet Reseach

I have heard other photographers say that some time should be given to studying others work that you admire and analyze what makes the picture work.  What is appealing about it, and what element did they use to make it work?  I spent two hours on the internet watching Marc Silber video clips with famous photographers.  It was facinating and I took notes.  Some of the really "Big Dogs" have a whole team of people who help set up and edit post production.  I have me, myslef, and I.   My friend Siti, sent me a link to Ken Rockwell and from his site I linked to Marc Silber and the links go on and on along with what equipment to buy =).... tomorrow I am donating plasma...

Friday Sould Be Exciting

Fridays should be a little more exciting than this... I did some reading about photography.  Are you starting to get the feeling that I am playing catch up with my postings?  You would be correct in that assumption...

The Fence



Brillance

 I like to post when I can show you what I did with my camera.  Today on my way home from work I drove by this fence.  I drove past it and something in my brain quietly said, "That would be a nice picture."  I made an agreement with myself that if I heard that little voice I would listen and stop if time allows.  So, I stopped and played with aperature and available lighting, and God's brillance....

Reading...

I hope to make this blog a little bit more exciting.  A post about reading should have more about what I was reading....  I really don't remember....I'll try to do better in the future =)

Did I make it?

I have been really tired lately and I am pretty sure that I tried to read about photography at 10 pm and I fell asleep in the chair.  My favorite show "Biggest Loser" was on and my sister called,  so I recorded the show and talked to her.  Afterward I tried to read and I struggled to get in my required 30 minutes!

Handmade With Love

I went to the Camera Club meeting tonight and we were told to bring in our tripods, and some little objects to photograph.  I chose these 3 little wooden hand carved angels I bought at an estate sale.  They are adorable to me, so I took them in and did a little set up.  It was fun playing with the lighting, and softening it with napkins and paper towels, and my little ball of polyfil.  I love the result.

More and More

I did more picture sorting today and posting Colorado vacation pictures to FB for the friends and family to view. They have been bugging me to post them so I had to buckle down.  After I sort, I need to eliminate, eliminate, eliminate,....ruthlessly.  I seem to be taking more and more.....

Fall Mornings

God's Morning Treasure

I woke up at 6:30 am this morning, before the sun rose.  I wanted to go out and try to capture something special.  I did, but it was not what I expected.  I expected to see some beautiful sunrise colors, soft pinks, yellows, maybe peach and pastel blues.  It didn't happen so I decided to go farther and adventure into the woods... and what a treasure God had waiting for me....

Picture Sorting

Believe it or not I am still sorting through all my picture files.  I am sorting them into files on my desk top and from there I will go through each folder and delete the crappy ones, contemplate the "so-so's" and work on the potentials in Photoshop Elements 7.
